Medical
I support a range of clinicians both within the NHS and private practices/establishments across the UK covering a range of specialities including Cardiology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nephrology, Mental Health Services, Radiology, Oncology, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Respiratory Medicine, Paediatrics, Genetics, Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics, Ophthalmology and General Practice - and there are more! I can assist with the transcription of clinic letters, referral letters, correspondence to patients, image reporting (e.g. MRI and Ultrasound scans) for example. I am familiar with both NHS practice software, such as Systm1 and EMIS, as well as private practice software such as DGL, PPM and others. Medical professionals also use my services for appointment making, diary management, inbox management and creation and distribution of invoices (and chasing). Needless to say I am available on a PRN basis or a more regular arrangement. Over the years I have developed a solid understanding of medical terminology and acronyms within context, unlike non medical specialists. I see myself as a 'safety' net to all clinicians I support ultimately reducing mistakes and clinical risk. I am flexible and can work according to client requirements and medical urgency, it is not unusual for me to offer a fast/over night turn around for urgent medical work so working on a 'Nocte' basis is very common! I am also experienced at producing and typing medico-legal and coroner reports.
Legal
I provide typing and secretarial support to Barristers' Chambers, Lawyers, Legal Executives and law firms of a range of sizes. Some see me simply as an extension of the in house team, others outsource their administrative work without any in house support at all. Typical services I undertake range from typing legal documents dictated by legal professionals and written notes, diary organisation, taking phone calls, preparing paperwork and court forms, conducting legal research, liaising with clients and making appointments, indexing and updating pleadings and managing expenses. I am familiar with some law practice software such as MyCase and CosmoLex and have helped professionals within a range of legal fields including family law, transport law, criminal law and conveyancing.
Property
When I refer to the term 'property', this is very broad. I undertake services for Property Inventory companies whose clerks/owners do not have the time to sit and type detailed and intricate inventory reports from their own dictations. These include check in/check out and interim inspections. I also undertake dictations for RICS accredited Surveyors. Furthermore, Estate Agents benefit from my services and use me for typing content for property listings on major property portals such as Right Move and Zoopla and publishing the listings. Individuals also use my services for promotion and marketing of their holiday homes/ dwellings on major platforms, including typing the content and uploading the photos onto social media, Air BNB and Booking.com, to name a few. I have assisted such individuals with logo creation for their assets (some of which have multiple property portfolios including overseas) and I am experienced in actually managing these properties across the portals, including managing calendars, liaising with the owners and co-ordinating cleaning staff.
Construction (Tradespeople)
I am seeing an increasing number of construction/tradespeople utilise my services and the demand is growing. Many of these business owners either operate with no administrative support and are too busy actually undertaking the physical work which is most important to them, they quite simply don't have the time to undertake administrative duties which are tedious and tiresome after a long days physical graft. The men in my family had the strongest work ethic I have ever come across within the building trade, including my father, grandfather, uncle and now my partner and son. Tradespeople use a lot of physical strength and energy during the working day so sending quotations, distributing invoices and bookkeeping is the last thing on their list when they get home, for the majority. That's where I come in. I have also supported these individuals by sending monthly mail outs promoting their services, website creation and administration, promotional materials such as business cards, leaflets, promotional work wear and telephone (job bookings/quotations) and inbox management. Above the aforementioned, it's tricky to respond to emails especially whilst laying slates on a roof, plumbing a bathroom or laying bricks.
Authors/Writers
Many experienced and first time authors prefer to write their manuscripts by hand, I am experienced in the typing and creation of manuscripts into electronic form while in-keeping with typical publishing house style which is quite specific. If it is not produced in such a manner it is likely to get cast aside. On the other hand, some authors prefer to type their manuscripts themselves but ask me to proof read and edit their first draft. I have brought some wonderful work to electronic life which is always a pleasure to see in print or electronically for those who opt to self-publish. I have assisted playwrights, authors of fiction and non-fiction.
Students
I have been there and done it, I have sat into the early hours typing my assignments and dissertation and trying to make sense of my own garbled lecture notes over 20 years ago. Common requests from students include typing of lectures, proof reading dissertations and assignments, typing dictated assignments and dissertations and audio transcription of dictated interviews.
